“Encourage one another and build each other up.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Encouragement. Everyone needs a little encouragement sometimes. I know I do. Especially on days when everything seems to be going wrong, if someone would just give me a smile – it would be enough to keep me going.  “Your love has given me joy and encouragement because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.” Philemon 1:7

In 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Paul instructs us to give encouragement to one another because he knew the importance of encouragement. I’m sure he needed it often when he was sitting in prison because of his work for the Lord. Don’t you imagine he got discouraged sometimes and he needed the encouragement of a friend? “…if you have a message of encouragement, for the people please speak.” Acts 13:15

That’s why at Bay Area First Baptist Church we encourage every person to get involved in Small Group Bible Study on Sunday mornings. And each small group is encouraged to have ladies’ connections – time just for the ladies in the class. They might get together during the week for a Bible study or do a service project or just for fellowship.

But that is not the only opportunity for ladies to encourage each other! We have monthly craft nights called Hobby Café and Monday morning Bible studies. And as we get to know each other better, we are able to find even more ways to encourage each other.

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today – encourage someone today! “By this all men will know you that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35
